Dale Lake Obituary, LINCOLN COUNTY, Neb. — Dale Lake has died from injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and two pickup trucks on East Highway 30 in Lincoln County. Lake was seriously injured in the crash on August 9 and died from his injuries on August 10, 2026.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 1:26 p.m. on August 9 to a reported injury crash near mile marker 199 on East Highway 30. The crash involved a Honda Trike motorcycle and other vehicles traveling westbound.
Dale Lake and his wife, Tammy Lake, were riding the Honda Trike when the crash occurred. Investigators said the couple attempted to pass a John Deere tractor traveling westbound, which was being escorted by a red Ford F-250 pickup truck. After initially passing the tractor, Dale Lake returned to the westbound lane between the tractor and the red Ford pickup.
Authorities said another pickup truck traveling behind the motorcycle then attempted to pass the tractor and overtake the Honda Trike. As Lake approached the red Ford F-250 and attempted to pass it, he was unable to complete the maneuver because the other pickup was also passing. Investigators said Lake was unable to slow down in time to avoid a collision.
The impact caused Dale and Tammy Lake to be ejected from the motorcycle. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said both were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. Emergency crews from Brady Fire and North Platte Fire responded to the scene and transported both victims to Great Plains Health for treatment.
Because of the severity of his injuries, Dale Lake was later transferred to a medical facility in Omaha for additional treatment. Despite medical efforts, he died on August 10 from injuries sustained in the crash. Tammy Lake survived and remains in recovery from injuries suffered in the collision.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Investigators are working to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine the factors that contributed to the collision. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information may be released as authorities complete their review.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office expressed condolences to the Lake family and offered prayers for Tammy Lake as she continues her recovery.
