Anthony Bruno Obituary, JESSUP, Pa. — Anthony Bruno, 68, and his daughter, Samantha Bruno, 32, were found dead inside their Jessup home Monday after police responded to the residence for a welfare check, according to the Jessup Borough Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to 367 Lane St. after receiving a request to check on the welfare of those inside the home. Police said the residence was secured from the inside when officers arrived. After entering the home, investigators located Anthony and Samantha Bruno inside the master bedroom on the second floor.
Both Anthony Bruno and Samantha Bruno were pronounced dead at the scene. The Lackawanna County Coroner’s Office said the causes and manners of their deaths remain undetermined as authorities continue their investigation.
The deaths prompted an investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies. Earlier Monday, Lackawanna County District Attorney Brian Gallagher confirmed that authorities were investigating a shooting involving two deaths in Jessup. Jessup Police Chief Eddie Boettcher also confirmed that the family’s dog was found dead inside the residence.
Authorities have not released additional details explaining how Anthony and Samantha died or whether another person was involved. Investigators are continuing to examine evidence from the home as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Chief Boettcher said police had not received any previous calls concerning the residence before Monday’s incident.
The Jessup Borough Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from the Pennsylvania State Police and the Lackawanna County Coroner’s Office. Authorities have described the incident as isolated and said there is no known threat to the surrounding community.
