Keith Staines Obituary: Lynn Township – Tamaqua Man Dies in Fatal Route 309 Crash

Keith Staines Obituary, LYNN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Keith Staines, 52, of Tamaqua, Schuylkill County, died Friday afternoon, August 7, 2026, after a serious crash involving a tanker truck and a tractor-trailer along Route 309 in Lynn Township, Lehigh County.

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 3 p.m. near the intersection of Route 309 and Gun Club Road. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center was notified of the crash at approximately 3:35 p.m. as emergency and investigative personnel responded to the scene.

According to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, Staines was operating the tanker truck when the collision occurred. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 4:10 p.m. by Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio.

Authorities later identified the victim as Staines, a 52-year-old resident of Tamaqua. At least one other person was reportedly injured in the crash, although authorities did not report any additional fatalities.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation. Pennsylvania State Police from the Fogelsville station and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office are assisting the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office with the investigation into the fatal crash.

Officials have not released additional details about what led to the collision, including the direction in which either vehicle was traveling or whether any contributing factors have been identified. Investigators are continuing to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash and determine how the two commercial vehicles collided.

An autopsy for Staines is scheduled for Monday at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center. The examination is expected to assist authorities in determining the cause and manner of his death.

As the investigation continues, additional information is expected to be released by authorities. Staines’ death leaves a family and community to grieve his passing, and condolences are extended to those affected by his loss.
