Robert Paul Long Obituary, ROCHESTER, Ill. — Robert Paul Long passed away peacefully at home on August 9, 2026, with his beloved canine companion, Dozer, by his side. His passing leaves behind family and loved ones who will remember him for the relationships, interests and memories he shared throughout his life.
Robert was born on January 6, 1986, in Springfield, Illinois, to Rosemary Armes and the late Robert L. Long. He was preceded in death by his father; grandmothers Audrey Pratt and Carol Robertson; cousin Angela Eagan; and uncle Mike Long.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Rosemary, and his loving sisters, Alexis Armes and Audrey Moore. Robert was also cherished by his aunts, Paula Moore and Libby D. Foster, as well as his cousins Jessica, Heather and Ashley, whom he loved “to the moon and back.” He leaves behind his nieces Olivia Rose and Vivian Grace, along with his beloved dog, Dozer.
Robert was a graduate of District 186 schools and Parkland Community College. Throughout his working life, he contributed his efforts to County Materials, Precision Auto and, most recently, Bunn Capital. His career reflected the hard work he brought to the various places where he worked.
Outside of work, Robert found enjoyment in the great outdoors, particularly fishing and camping whenever he had the opportunity. He also spent weekends exploring garage sales and resale shops, where he enjoyed discovering treasures. In his garage, he could often be found tinkering with projects. Music was another passion, with 1980s rock and country music among his favorites.
In keeping with Robert’s love for animals, the family has asked that those wishing to honor his memory consider making donations to W.I.L.D. Canine or the Animal Protective League. These organizations reflect an interest that was meaningful to Robert during his life.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street, Rochester, Illinois 62563, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery, where Robert will be laid to rest.
As family and friends gather to remember Robert, they will carry with them the memories of the life he shared, his love for the outdoors, music, animals and the people closest to him. He will be deeply remembered by those who knew and loved him, and his family is wished comfort and strength as they honor his memory.
