Louis Gurka Obituary, WALKER, La. — Louis Gurka, 40, of Holden, Louisiana, was killed Saturday night, August 8, 2026, in a two-vehicle head-on crash in Livingston Parish, according to the Louisiana State Police.
The fatal collision occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 63, also known as Weiss Road, just south of Louisiana Highway 449. Gurka was driving a 2012 Toyota Camry southbound on LA 63 when the vehicle crossed the centerline and entered the path of a northbound 2019 Hyundai Elantra, state police said.
The two vehicles collided head-on, resulting in fatal injuries to Gurka. He was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.
The driver of the Hyundai Elantra and a front-seat passenger were both properly restrained with seat belts at the time of the crash, according to Louisiana State Police. Despite being restrained, both occupants sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have not released the identities of the Hyundai’s driver or passenger, and no information has been provided about their current conditions. Their injuries were described by state police as serious.
