Jauwan Walter Hayes Jr. Obituary, PINE LAKE — Jauwan Walter Hayes Jr., 19, died following a drowning incident at Pine Lake on August 9, 2026, leaving family, friends, and members of the community mourning the loss of a young life.
According to reports, the incident occurred near the 3800 block of Norman Wood Drive at Pine Lake at approximately 6:24 p.m. Jauwan was at the beach with family members and was swimming in a designated area between two floating platforms when witnesses noticed that he had begun struggling at the surface.
Moments later, Jauwan went underwater and did not resurface. Emergency responders were called to the scene and began rescue efforts as they worked to locate and assist him.
Despite the rescue efforts, Jauwan sadly lost his life in the incident. The circumstances surrounding the drowning have left those who witnessed or learned of the tragedy deeply affected.
