CLARKSDALE, Miss. — A suspected murder-suicide at a Clarksdale apartment complex left Alliyah Dudley and Lorenzo Murrell dead and Natasha Tillman seriously injured Wednesday morning, according to the Clarksdale Police Department.
Police said officers responded shortly after 10 a.m. to the Westover Apartments at 1310 West Second Street after receiving reports that multiple people had been shot. When officers arrived, they found three people inside an apartment who were unresponsive and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Dudley and Murrell were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Tillman survived the shooting and was airlifted to a hospital for medical treatment. A family member, Latasha Jones, said Tillman was receiving treatment at Regional One Health in Memphis.
According to investigators, Murrell, who was reportedly in a relationship with Dudley, went to the apartment and allegedly shot Dudley and Tillman before turning the gun on himself. Authorities are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide.
Jones said Dudley’s two children were at school when the shooting occurred. The information provided did not indicate that the children were present at the apartment during the incident.
The bodies of Dudley and Murrell were transferred to the Coahoma County Coroner’s Office as investigators continued processing the scene. Police have not released additional details about what led to the shooting or what occurred inside the apartment before the violence.
The Clarksdale Police Department remains the lead agency investigating the case. Investigators are expected to examine evidence, interview witnesses and work to establish the circumstances that preceded the shooting.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities may release additional information as evidence is reviewed and the circumstances of the incident become clearer.
