Nathaniel L. Johnson Obituary, RUSH CITY, Minn. — Nathaniel L. Johnson, 18, of Elk River, Minnesota, died Monday, August 10, 2026, after his motorcycle collided with a passenger vehicle near Rush City in Chisago County, according to the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office.
The Chisago County Emergency Communications Center received a report of an injury crash at approximately 1:49 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Rush Point Drive and Fairfield Avenue in Rush City. Johnson was riding a motorcycle when it struck the rear of a passenger vehicle.
A Chisago County Sheriff’s deputy arrived at the scene within minutes and began providing medical assistance to Johnson while emergency medical crews responded. Johnson was transported for emergency medical treatment and was being flown by Life Link III to a Level I trauma center.
Despite efforts to save his life, Johnson died from injuries sustained in the crash while en route to the hospital. Authorities said he was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The driver of the passenger vehicle remained at the scene after the crash and is cooperating with investigators. Authorities also said drugs and alcohol are not suspected of contributing to the collision.
The fatal motorcycle crash remains under investigation by the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol Crash Reconstruction Division. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision and determine what factors led to the motorcycle striking the passenger vehicle.
