Robert “Bobby” Lovrin Obituary, UPPER LAKE, Calif. — Robert “Bobby” Lovrin, 39, of Upper Lake, has died following a shooting and assault incident on Upper Lake Lucerne Road on Friday, August 7, 2026. Authorities said Lovrin died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after deputies located him near a residence during the investigation.
The incident began at approximately 3 p.m. when Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on Upper Lake Lucerne Road following a report of an assault and possible shots fired. When deputies arrived, they found an adult woman who had sustained injuries during an alleged physical assault and shooting.
The woman was transported by air ambulance to a medical facility outside Lake County for treatment. Authorities said she was reported to be in stable condition. During the initial investigation, the woman told deputies that the assault had occurred at another residence on Upper Lake Lucerne Road.
Investigators believed the suspected attacker could still be in the area. Deputies, assisted by officers from the California Highway Patrol and CAL FIRE Law Enforcement, responded to the second residence and established a perimeter around the property while searching for the suspect.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office deployed a drone to assist with the search. The drone located Lovrin a short distance from the residence. Authorities identified him as the suspected assailant and said investigators determined that he was the woman’s former boyfriend.
Lovrin was found deceased outside the residence from what authorities described as an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A handgun was recovered near his body. The circumstances leading to the confrontation and the specific events surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and is continuing to examine the assault, shooting and subsequent death of Lovrin. Authorities have not released additional details regarding what led to the confrontation.
